LED swimming pool lighting improves visibility in the water and transforms the atmosphere of private pools, communal facilities, hotels, spas and sports centres. Underwater lights illuminate the pool basin, highlight its shape and create different environments with white or RGB lighting.
At DomiLED you will find LED pool lighting solutions including underwater projectors, PAR56 lamps, surface-mounted lights, niche-mounted models, controllers, transformers and compatible accessories. Selection should be based on the pool type, existing installation, operating voltage and control system.
Before ordering, check the mounting type, niche dimensions, luminaire diameter, fixing system, operating voltage and electrical compatibility. Two pool lights with a similar appearance do not necessarily have the same dimensions or connections.
When replacing an existing lamp, inspect the niche, cable, gaskets, cable gland and transformer. Compatibility should not be determined solely by the external diameter or PAR56 format.
White light provides a clear appearance and displays the natural colour of the pool finish and water. Warm white produces a more relaxing atmosphere and works particularly well with sand, beige and stone-coloured finishes.
RGB LED pool lights combine red, green and blue channels to produce different tones and effects. Depending on the system, they may be controlled through a switch, remote control, application, central controller or dedicated protocol.
Before combining several RGB lights, check that they use the same control system and support synchronised operation. Visually similar products may use different protocols and may not work together.
Watts indicate electricity consumption, while lumens express the amount of light produced. Pool dimensions, depth, shape and interior colour should all be considered when determining the required illumination.
Dark finishes absorb more light than pale surfaces and may require a higher luminous output. Projector positioning also matters: correct distribution helps prevent shadows, dark areas and glare towards the house or relaxation areas.
For long or irregularly shaped pools, several distributed lights may provide a better result than concentrating all the power in a single luminaire.
Luminaires installed in the water must be specifically designed for submersion and provide the protection stated by the manufacturer, normally IP68 for underwater pool lights. An outdoor luminaire that resists rain is not automatically suitable for underwater installation.
The IP rating must be considered for the complete product and its specified installation conditions. Cables, seals, connections and sealing components all form part of the system’s safety.
Pool lights normally operate at safety extra-low voltage, but they do not all use the same electrical supply. Available systems include 12V AC pool lights, 24V DC models and other manufacturer-specific configurations.
The voltage and current type must match the luminaire specification exactly. A 12V AC light should not automatically be connected to a 12V DC supply, and a 24V product must not be powered by a 12V transformer.
The transformer or power supply must have sufficient capacity for all connected luminaires and be installed outside restricted zones in a protected, ventilated and accessible location, in accordance with applicable regulations.
Before installation, check that the luminaire materials are compatible with the pool’s water treatment. Chlorine, salt, chemicals and an incorrect pH can affect metals, seals, plastics and electrical components.
For saltwater pools, corrosion-resistant materials and the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions are particularly important. A stainless-steel appearance alone does not guarantee compatibility with every salt concentration.
The combination of water and electricity requires a specialist installation. Never handle a luminaire, open a connection or replace a component while the circuit is energised.
Voltage conversion, electrical protection, connections and equipment location must comply with the regulations for swimming pools. Installation should be completed or inspected by a qualified electrical installer.
