12V flexible LED neon for decorative lighting and signs

12V flexible LED neon makes it possible to create continuous lines of light, shapes, lettering and outlines with a uniform finish. Its diffusing cover reduces the visibility of individual LED points and reproduces the appearance of traditional neon in a flexible and energy-efficient format.

It can be used in homes, shops, restaurants, bars, hotels, window displays, furniture, decorative walls, events and signage projects. Its low-voltage direct-current operation makes it particularly suitable for compact installations and custom designs.

Difference between flexible LED neon and LED strips

A conventional LED strip leaves the individual diodes visible unless it is installed inside a profile with a diffuser. Flexible LED neon places the light source inside a silicone or diffusing cover, producing a more uniform illuminated line that is designed to remain visible.

This makes it suitable for creating outlines, highlighting architectural features, illuminating shelves and producing signs, logos and decorative compositions.

Power supply for 12V LED neon

12V DC LED neon must not be connected directly to a 230V electrical supply. It requires a compatible 230V to 12V DC power supply with sufficient capacity for the total installed load.

Calculate the required power by multiplying the consumption per metre by the total length and include a safety margin. Correct positive and negative polarity must also be observed when making the connections.

Cutting, connection and voltage drop

12V flexible LED neon should only be cut at the points indicated by the manufacturer. The distance between cutting points depends on the model, so each section should be planned before installation begins.

Long runs may experience voltage drop, resulting in reduced brightness towards the end of the line. Powering the neon from both ends, adding intermediate power injection points or dividing the project into several sections can help prevent this effect.

Bending direction and installation

Not every model bends in the same direction. Side-bending and vertical-bending versions are available, so the correct format must be selected for the required shape or route. The minimum bending radius should also be respected to avoid damaging the internal circuit.

Installation can be completed with compatible channels, guides, brackets or clips. Correct fixing helps maintain straight lines, preserve curves and produce a neat, professional finish.

Colours, dimming and outdoor use

Depending on the model, flexible neon may provide warm, neutral or cool white light, a single colour or RGB effects. A compatible 12V dimmer or controller is required to adjust brightness or control colours.

For bathrooms, terraces, façades and other areas exposed to moisture, check the IP protection rating and correctly seal the connectors, cutting points and end caps. A protected outer cover alone does not make an open connection waterproof.
