GU10, MR16 and G4 LED bulbs for spotlights and luminaires

GU10, MR16 and G4 LED bulbs provide an efficient and durable replacement for traditional halogen light sources while producing less heat. These formats are commonly used in recessed spotlights, ceiling lights, wall lamps, display cabinets, furniture lighting, cooker hoods and decorative luminaires.

At DomiLED you will find bulbs with different power ratings, luminous outputs, beam angles and colour temperatures. To select the correct model, always check both the cap type and the operating voltage of the installation.

What is the difference between GU10, MR16 and G4?

  • GU10 LED bulbs: feature two short twist-lock pins and normally operate directly at 220-240 V. They are widely used in ceiling spotlights, track lighting and adjustable luminaires.
  • MR16 or GU5.3 LED bulbs: use two thin pins spaced approximately 5.3 mm apart and generally operate at 12 V through a compatible transformer or driver. MR16 mainly describes the shape and size of the reflector.
  • G4 LED bulbs: are compact capsule lamps with two pins spaced 4 mm apart. They are used in decorative lamps, furniture, display cabinets, caravans and other small luminaires, usually with a 12 V power supply.

How to choose the correct LED bulb

In addition to the cap and voltage, compare the number of lumens, as this indicates the actual amount of light produced. Wattage measures electricity consumption, but two bulbs with the same wattage may provide different brightness levels depending on their efficiency.

The beam angle also affects the lighting result. A narrow beam concentrates the light and is suitable for highlighting products, objects or specific areas. A wide beam distributes light more evenly and is better suited to rooms, hallways and general circulation areas.

Colour temperature and dimmable LED bulbs

Warm white light creates a comfortable atmosphere in living rooms, bedrooms, restaurants and hotels. Neutral white provides balanced illumination for kitchens, bathrooms and shops, while cool white produces a brighter appearance for work areas.

If the installation uses a brightness controller, choose a dimmable LED bulb and make sure the dimmer is compatible with LED technology. For MR16 and G4 installations, transformer compatibility must also be checked, as some transformers designed for halogen lamps require a minimum load and may cause flickering.
